Day 64: Personal Retreat Day #4

Yesterday I took my fourth straight Personal Retreat Day (PRD).

If you’re new to my blog, let me catch you up.

Over my professional career, I’ve noticed a measurable difference in effectiveness and satisfaction in my work when I take a monthly PRD.

But I had fallen out of the routine.

Making the Change

When I created my Hero On A Mission (HOAM) Life Plan I decided I needed to prioritize taking PRDs again.

It became one of the Primary Tasks I identified to help me to live like a HOAM in 2021.

Back in December I went into my 2021 calendar and set aside monthly PRDs.

That makes sure I don’t allow urgent things to crowd it out.

It’s Like Giving

Jill and I have developed the habit of setting aside a percentage of every paycheck we receive right off the top.

Then we give it to causes we believe in, and then figure out how to live off the rest.

It works!

Because we have prioritized what we want to do with the money that comes to us.

A PRD works the same way.

When I set aside the days before the year even starts, they are there for me when I want to use them months later.

Because I have prioritized what I want to do with the days that are given to me.

I still want to be more strategic about how I use those days.

That’s the next step.

But the most important thing is that they are there for the taking—so I’m taking them again.

Fourth months in a row…I’ve found my momentum!
